Sting team compare applications
The Sting team started out with an innovative syringe design, created from industrial designer Christopher Natt's aspiration to reduce the spread of disease in developing countries where used syringe needles are dumped as landfill waste. However, the team realised that, in order to finance and commercialise the new design, they would have to identify an application for accessible early market segments where the concept could offer a compelling application and product, starting in the developed world.
Here, Drs. Jahan Mahmoodi and Robin Clark describe how they considered different applications for this novel concept. Although they do not use the Technology Application Matrix specifically, their thinking process is along similar lines.
